The national airline Bulgaria Air is planning to expand its fleet. According to the head of Bulgaria Air, the Airbus A220 should be standardized within the fleet. The Airbus should therefore become the airline’s standard aircraft, but that does not exclude other machines from the portfolio.
In the near future, three leased A220-300s are to be joined to form members of the fleet, with deliveries scheduled to take place in June, August and September respectively. Two A319s and one ERJ190 are expected to be phased out before the end of 2025, as the term of the leasing contracts expires. The fleet consists of the following aircraft: two Airbus A319, five Airbus A320 and four Embraer E190. However, the future standard should be the Airbus A220.
