After a four-year conversion and renovation phase, the Wien Museum, which is located on Karlsplatz in the Austrian capital, is scheduled to open its doors again in December 2023. The visitor expects an expanded and redesigned building.
New features include a floating floor, gastronomic offerings and a terrace that is open to the public. A whale figure weighing around 1.7 tons will be on display in the former atrium. This comes from the former inn « Zum Walfisch », which is located in the Prater. The atrium itself was converted into an approximately 25 meter high hall.
The operators currently assume that visitors can be received again from December 6, 2023. At the same time, on February 1, 2024, there will be a special exhibition that will deal with the works of master builder Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. In May 2024, people will be able to marvel at the secessionist movements that took place around 1900 in Munich, Berlin and Vienna.
