aviation: BER Airport reaches ACA Level 3

Berlin-Brandenburg Airport recently achieved Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation.

The ACA is a process to capture and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The European airport association Airports Council International Europe (ACI) examines and evaluates the CO2 management of airports and their measures to reduce their CO2 footprint. The audit is carried out by independent external experts. The certification therefore offers airports a common framework for active CO2 management with measurable specifications. The ACA defines a total of seven levels, with each level requiring specific goals and measures to reduce CO2 emissions.

“Congratulations to Berlin Brandenburg Airport! In view of this goal of becoming a CO2-neutral airport by 2045 at the latest, BER is taking concrete steps to reduce its own emissions. At the same time, he involves his business partners, including airlines, in his CO2 management. These efforts are very welcome as they contribute to the decarbonization of the entire aviation sector. “We are very much looking forward to continuing to work closely with the BER team on the path to Net Zero,” said Olivier Jankovec, General Director of ACI Europe.
