The Icelandic low-cost airline Play had a total of 142,918 travelers on board as of March 2024. Compared to the same month last year, there was an increase of 65 percent.
Play’s utilization was 88.1 percent in March 2024 compared to 80.6 percent in March last year. It is the highest utilization the carrier has had in a winter month since it was founded in 2019.
Of the passengers who flew with Play in March 2024, 25.6 percent came from Iceland, 36 percent flew to Iceland and 38.4 percent were connecting passengers. The high proportion of passengers choosing Iceland as their destination confirms the increasing demand that is slowly recovering following inaccurate global reporting on the island’s seismic activity.
